Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are your prices? Prices for lutes and ouds start at £600 (approx. €681, US$734) and for smaller instruments, prices start at £450 (approx. €511, US$550), plus shipping.

How long does an order take? Each instrument takes approximately 2 months to build. Due to current demand I have a 12 month (1 year) waiting list. I do also have a small amount of instruments currently in stock for immediate shipping.

Do you build custom instruments? Yes, I am happy to build any custom designed instrument. Please contact me as above to discuss.

Which strings do you use? My instruments are supplied with either Sonoro or Pyramid brand strings as standard. Other strings are available at extra cost if desired.

How is payment made? Half is paid as a deposit when your instrument is commissioned and the remainder on completion. I accept payment by bank transfer, Transferwise and Paypal. Please contact me at the above e-mail address for details.

Where do you ship to? I ship worldwide. I have shipped to 20 countries on 4 continents since 2017.

Which woods do you offer? I offer the following woods generally, but if you have any special requests, I am happy to accommodate. I have given Latin species names in brackets after each as common names vary in different countries. Soundboards are German/Alpine Spruce (Picea abies). Other woods used are European Ash (Fraxinus excelsior), European Cherry (Prunus avium), European Maple (Acer platanoides), European Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), North American Maple (Acer saccharum), European Beech (Fagus sylvatica), English Oak (Quercus robur), European Walnut (Juglans regia), Sapele (Entandrophragma cylindricum) Meranti (Shorea acuminata), London Plane (Platanus x acerifolia), Sweet Chestnut (Castanea sativa), English Elm (Ulmus procera).

Is it possible to change an order? Apart from specific limited circumstances, it is not possible to change an order once construction has begun on it.
